Stealing Away, by Lbilover

Originally written for the 3 Sentence Ficathon prompt 'The Little Princess, Sara, Becky, a friend in need is a friend indeed, but what happens when you don't need anything'

One evening Sara and Becky steal away, up the stairs to the dim dustiness of the Indian gentleman's attic, where a naughty monkey once escaped and set the magic in motion.

Sara drags a table to the window, and she and Becky stand on it and gaze out at a Splendid one, a sunset that paints the chimneys and rooftops of the city with lavender and rose and gold.

Becky says in a hushed voice, "Oh Miss, it may seem queer, but I've missed this, I 'ave," and Sara holds the prisoner in the next cell tightly by the hand and replies, "So have I."
