Written in 2006 and based on Sean's unhappiness (as expressed in his book) with the version of the Mount Ruapehu scenes that PJ used in RotK.
They say the camera doesn't lie.
Watching dailies from his couch in the darkened room, Peter wonders if they're even aware of it, the raw emotion that seeps through the cracks, creating an atmosphere of intimacy so profound it's almost unsettling to watch.
Take after take it's undeniably there; he's sometimes tempted to warn them, put them on their guard. But Peter, like most directors, would kill for such a spark between his leads. He doesn’t say a word.
But in the end he selects a cut less… revealing than others.
Sean won’t be happy.
But the camera won’t lie.
