Celebration, by Lbilover

The last dance had been danced.

The last song had been sung.

Hobbits replete with food and drink weaved their way homeward, agreeing that it had been the best New Year’s celebration ever.

Their Mayor - the Master and the Thain close by his side - made a speech short and to the point, while the hobbits shouted, “Hear! Hear!” and drank to the King’s health.

The last toast was proposed in the quiet Bag End study.

Ruby wine glowed in the candlelight as three hobbits held their glasses aloft and touched them together.

“To Frodo,” they said proudly, and drank deep.
